BOARD OF ADVISORS
RISE Zambia operates with guidance from its Board of Advisors. Unlike many boards, who focus primarily on fundraising, the RISE board is composed of members who each contribute based on his or her unique operating skill set. These range from development to marketing strategy to media content creation.
A resident of Cape Town, South Africa, Des spent his early years in Zambia, where excellent nursing aided his recovery from polio. He is a successful executive and entrepreneur in manufacturing, engineering consulting and real estate development. Des has a unique perspective of having grown up in the “Copper Belt” region and having worked for many years on the African continent.
A native of Zambia, Nyuma came to the U.S. to attend nursing college. She has held positions at prestigious hospitals including Mass General and Johns Hopkins. Nyuma has been involved in RISE since the early days, contributing her counsel, contacts, and experience as a nurse and mentor have been extremely valuable. She returns to Zambia regularly and plans to move back within the next few years. Nyuma recently completed the Executive Degree Program at the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
Currently living in Denver, CO, Matt is a marketing professional and storyteller with experience advising organizations of all sizes on how to best tell their stories. He currently works for Guild Education, a certified b-corps helping Fortune 1000 companies provide education as a benefit to their front-line employees. Matt's experience also includes strategy roles at PHD, UM, and Mars, Inc. He attended Vanderbilt University and has been involved with RISE since the beginning.
A native of Poland, Dorota lives in Lusaka and has been involved in RISE Zambia since the beginning. She also helps our Managing Director-Zambia, Stanley Kampamba, with many scholarship-related activities, including identifying/screen candidates to evaluating colleges and mentoring Scholars.
Formerly with McKinsey & Co., Inc., Esther has had a distinguished career providing strategy and communications guidance to organizations in a wide range of industries. She also serves as Strategic Advisor to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Esther contributes her experience in building HSF into a highly successful charity and her exceptional writing skills.
Angelo’s spent over 40 years marketing consumer products as a senior executive including with Seagrams and Pernod-Ricard. His experience includes extensive domestic and international responsibilities, strategic planning, premium brand marketing, strategic consumer and business planning, and direct marketing. Angelo has been a valuable contributor to RISE communications positioning.
